as some of you may know, there isn't a single woman on my dad's side that doesn't have breast cancer. and he has a big family. needless to say, i'd love for those scientist types to find a cure. and that's why i'm going to join in this year's national race for the cure in june. anyone feel like pledging me and helping out?

I'm participating in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation National Race for the Cure®. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is a global catalyst in the fight against breast cancer and is credited with changing the way people think about the disease and those who survive it. The Foundation has a nearly 25-year history of patient advocacy, building awareness and raising funds for research and community outreach programs.

A minimum of $1 million of the funds raised through the Komen National Race for the Cure® will remain in the Washington, D.C., community – including metro-area counties in Virginia and Maryland – to fund outreach programs and initiatives that address the specific unmet breast health needs of the area. Washington, D.C., has the highest breast cancer mortality rate in the United States.

Did you know?

 Ten to fifteen percent of breast cancers are not detected by mammography?

 Men are also at risk for developing breast cancer?

 Having no children, or a first child after age 30, are among some of the risk factors for breast cancer?

As part of the Race, I've created my own Personal Pledge Page to which you can make a pledge of any amount.

thanks!

in that good way.

last night i went to a yoga class for the first time, and i loved it. i tried the place down the street from my office. the instructor was very knowledgeable and nice. there weren't many people in the class so she was able to keep a close eye on what all (4) of us were doing. (like i said, small class)

in any case, i'm in pain today. i think this is exactly what i needed to kick myself back into working out on a regular basis. at the very least, it's working different muscles than i usually do. and it'd be neat to get some of my old flexibility back.

so that's where i'm going to be every tuesday night for the next few months. you should stop by if you're interested.

**note** i shouldn't say the first class.... how about the first class with a stranger teaching? cause really, that's a big deal for me. it usually takes me a while to get comfortable around strangers. and while working with kat was great, our schedules are allergic to each other. :)

that's the license plate of the woman i got into an argument with on the toll rd this morning.

i have a bit of a lead foot, and was going 80 in the left lane. i was stuck behind an expedition, but i didn't mind because i was still going 80. this bitch, however, was tailing me. traffic was heavy enough that i couldn't change lanes easily. after a few minutes i got tired of her and slowed down to 70 to try to get her off my ass. it didn't work. she just got closer and started screaming at me. (have you ever seen someone try to scream through a window? it's hysterical)

the lane next to me opened up, so i changed lanes to get out of her way. as she drew up beside me, i flicked her off. (my road rage might be getting better, but it's not completely gone) this obscene gesture pissed her off, so she paced me... rolled down her window.... and started screaming at me again. i ignored her and continued to flick her off.

here's the good part

she threw something at my car. it hit my window right next to my head hard enough to leave a small scratch. wtf? i'm guessing it was a quarter - but damn. i can't believe she actually threw something at my car while driving 80 on the highway. i'm a little stunned.

there is one entertaining thing about a virginia commute - the personalized license plates.

this morning i passed a prius with 'luv2rub' and a huge suv with 'witgod1' (and a bunch of i love jesus stickers all over the back of it)

i giggled the entire way to work.
